Terms of use
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This English translation is provided for convenience. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
By using GameVote (the website and its Discord bot), you accept these terms. They are written to be read: feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
1. The service
GameVote is a free community video game directory: anyone can browse game pages, vote for their favourite games, rate them, comment on them and follow their news. Studios can claim their game's page to manage it and publish news. The service is provided "as is": we do our best to keep it available and accurate, without any guarantee of permanent availability.
2. Account
- You log in with your Discord, Steam or Google account, or with a link sent to your email address; you must follow the terms of the service you use.
- One GameVote account per person. You are responsible for what is done from your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from the settings.
3. Votes
- One vote per game every 12 hours, from the website or the Discord bot. Rankings reset every month.
- Forbidden: voting with several accounts, using bots or scripts, buying, selling or trading votes, or rewarding votes in a way that distorts the rankings.
- Suspicious votes may be held, cancelled or deleted, and the accounts involved suspended. Rankings cannot be bought: neither studios nor affiliate links have any influence on them.
4. Published content (reviews, comments, posts)
You keep ownership of your content and are responsible for it. The following is forbidden:
- insulting, hateful, discriminatory, harassing or threatening content;
- spam, unsolicited advertising, malicious or misleading links;
- illegal or pornographic content, or content infringing the rights of others (copyright, privacy);
- fake reviews (reviews written by a studio about its own game, paid reviews, review bombing a competitor);
- major spoilers without a warning.
By publishing, you grant GameVote a free, non-exclusive licence to display, reproduce and distribute this content on the website, the Discord bot and related announcements, for as long as it is published. You can delete your content or your account at any time.
5. Studios and game pages
- Only an authorised representative of a game may claim or create its official page. Impersonation leads to the removal of the page and the suspension of the account.
- The studio is responsible for the information, news and review replies it publishes. It cannot delete or edit player reviews.
- API keys and webhooks are personal: do not share them. The API usage limits described in the documentation apply.
- The team may correct, take away from a studio or delete a page that is wrong, fraudulent or contrary to these terms.
6. Discord bot
The GameVote bot can be added to a Discord server by its administrators. The same rules apply to votes and content submitted through the bot. Server administrators choose the channels where the bot posts news and can remove it at any time.
7. Moderation and sanctions
Anyone can report content. Depending on the severity, the team may hide or delete content, cancel votes, suspend or delete an account. Decisions are logged. To appeal a decision, write to [email protected].
8. Prices and store links
Prices are collected automatically from third-party stores and may have changed: only the price shown by the store at the time of purchase applies. GameVote sells no games; your purchases are made with the store, under its own terms. Some links are affiliate links (see the legal notice).
9. Supporting the site
You can support GameVote with a monthly subscription or a one-time donation, paid through Stripe. Support only gives cosmetic perks (badge, achievement, supporters wall) and no advantage in votes or rankings. The subscription has no commitment and can be cancelled at any time from the Support page: it ends at the end of the period already paid. A donation gives the badge for 30 days. You can ask for a refund of a payment within 14 days, by writing to the address given in the legal notice.
10. Liability
GameVote is not the author of content published by members and studios, nor of data imported from IGDB and Steam, and cannot guarantee its accuracy. As the host of this content, GameVote promptly removes any clearly unlawful content reported to it.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may change; the date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. In case of a significant change, a banner will say so on the website. Continuing to use GameVote means you accept the new version.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In case of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first ([email protected]); failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction, subject to the protective rules that consumers benefit from.
